The $1,500 Limit Hold’em event played Monday was won by Harrison Wilder, a professional poker player with vast experience in limit games. Although this was just the second WSOP tournament he played, he claimed the coveted bracelet after surviving a field of 67 players. Since the Black Friday he has been forced to concentrate on live games and moved to Las Vegas just recently in order to follow this pursuit. Wilder has been playing poker for five years and, unlike many poker pros, actually finished his studies before embarking on the poker career – whilst his parents and family encouraged him to change direction before then. The usual situation is parents wanting you to finish the school and being sceptical about the prospects of a professional poker player, whilst in Harrison’s case it was quite the opposite. He took home $205,065 for his first place in this game. |
